What Is Stage III Vapor Recovery and Why It Matters

Gasoline vapor is released every time fuel is delivered, stored or dispensed. Left uncontrolled, it escapes into the air — creating safety risks, polluting the environment and quietly costing money through product loss.

The Three Stages

In the commonly used three-stage model of vapor recovery at Chinese gas stations:

  • Stage I — vapor is returned to the tanker truck during underground tank filling.
  • Stage II — vapor is returned to the underground tank while a customer refuels their vehicle.
  • Stage III — a processing unit treats excess vapor from the underground tanks so that emissions from the site meet the limits of GB 20952.

The Stage III unit is the final safeguard: it collects vapor that the first two stages cannot absorb, processes it on site, and ensures the station’s overall emissions stay within the required limits.

为什么重要

For operators, a properly working recovery system means a safer site, cleaner air for customers and neighbours, compliance with environmental requirements, and less fuel lost to evaporation. For a typical high-throughput station, that last point alone can represent a meaningful annual saving.

Vohon manufactures Stage III vapor recovery units designed around these requirements. If you are planning a new station or a retrofit, our engineers can help you size and select the right system.
